Who won the fight?

This cool web app, can be a useful for some or just plain fun for others, it’s called google fight.

Google Fight Web Application

This web application, lets you "fight out" two keywords or strings. It basically searches google and displays a bar graph. The winner is the one with the most results.

How is this useful? Well if you have a website or into SEO (search engine optimization), you can see which keywords are more popular than others and optimize your site accordingly, or if you want to see how many links your site has compared to your competitor’s site.

Q. I’m not an SEO nor have a website, can it be useful for me?

A. Sure, let’s say your shopping around for an MP3 player, try "googlefighting" [Apple Ipod] vs [Microsoft Zune], it won’t be a difficult decision to make, or try [HD DVD] vs. [Blu-ray]. very cool way to see what’s more popular.

Try it out, and let me know if you come up with some interesting results.

Desktop Tower Defense – Time Well Wasted

I had to share this little gem as one of my favorite netpicks, I First heard about this game, about a week ago on (a bi-weekly Tech podcast). They warned me to stay away, they said: "if you have any responsibilities whatsoever, you have been warned – this game is highly addictive".

Of course I didn’t believe them, so I had to check it out myself… After one game I was hooked, welcome to Desktop Tower Defense:

Desktop Tower Defense Screen Shot

This little time waster is hosted at… it’s fun, it’s addictive, and it’s FREE! – Paul Preece (the creator) describes it as:

"A live action puzzle game written for fun in flash. You have to stop your enemies, or ‘creeps’, from traveling all the way across the screen. Tower pieces can be purchased and placed on the map to kill the creeps before they make it across."

So if you have a paper due, need to meet a deadline, eat, or sleep – stay away. But if you have time to kill, and wanna have a blast, I urge you to check out "The TD Game".

YouTube – Most Adorable

YouTube has had a huge impact on the webosphere, and although I’m not a Youtube addict, I do find myself visiting the site on a regular basis. The winners for the 2006 YouTube video awards were announced this week, and out of all the winners, I had only seen two:

  1. treadmill video
  2. Ask a Ninja

Those of you who know me, should also know that I’m a huge fan of "ask a ninja ". My friends don’t agree, it’s the best podcasts out there, so I was glad to see it won "best series". It’s hard to believe that millions of people are wrong about a hit show.

So I took a look at all the winners, and most of them are pretty good. I recommend you watch them all, but if you can only watch one. I urge you to watch kiwi, who won for "most adorable", it’s by far my favorite one.
